New Outlooks Towards Energy

I often find times where I am constantly wasting energy. Even if I feel like I am doing something productive, I am never using the exact amount of energy needed to do that and will end having wasted energy as result. The same way I feel, is pretty much the same way electricity probably feels. In a world were so much of life is now dependent upon technology it sometimes doesn't make sense to me why we still use gas as a primary source of fuel. As I think and hope to develop, Nuclear Fusion seems all the more fitting for today and tomorrow's future. Right now in engineering we are working on small projects hopefully to be done sometime in April of 2012. I'm hoping to build a small fusion reactor even if its theoretical in approach, it should be quite awesome. A few months ago I did a post on how all energy across the universe is of the same origin thus new energy cannot be created. I hope to follow up on this concept a little more and look forward to the strange looks from fellow scientist/professors/teachers. Ad Astra!

Here We Go Again...

So the first quarter of junior year has officially come to an end. I can honestly say that most of it was consumed by soccer, but nevertheless I think I accomplished some really amazing things. However, I did not meet my goal of getting an A in pre-calculus this quarter. Instead I wound up with a C. Now I know that last year I set the same goal for my self in algebra 2, and I realize that even though I understand concepts that I'm learning (I truly understand most of what we discuss in the class) I am not applying myself enough. I hardly study, and that is something I need to work on. I was actually really disappointed in myself, but then I thought of the famous John Nash and what he went through. A "C" on my report card, compared to schizophrenia. I thought I had better be grateful of everything I have, and the opportunities I have to pursue a higher grade. In summary, I think I'm ready to take all the challenges life may swing my way, I'm actually looking forward to them, if any.

Realization

I've been away for quite sometime now. With the soccer season just ending, as well as the first round of benchmarks coming to a close, it feels like a boulder has been lifted of my shoulders. I am now currently exploring the realms of pre-calculus and physics in my junior year. Shopping for colleges and such, as well as trying to think of a new project for this round of research projects. Life is just so interesting. I can't seem to remember a time where I have interacted with so many people in my life before. Collaboration is something I am really getting used to in life. Nevertheless I will keep you a float on all the current events. Until then.

Acceptance

Well as some of you may know I applied to the NASA INSPIRE Online Learning Community this year and I was accepted! Of course participating in the online activities is what I look forward to do, but it feels swell to know that NASA can recognize my deeper desire for learning and cultivating my scientific interest. This is something else I can use to build my path towards a greater understanding of life. I am fortunate enough to have a life of longevity on this planet called Earth.

The "Fate" of the Universe

This is a new idea I have recently started to think about. I want to study the beginnings of Atoms, compare regular atoms to Radioactive atoms, and relate them to the ultimate fate of the universe. My conclusion now is that the universe has had no beginning and well never end, but is on a continuous cycle of dispersed expanding energy. I can analyze the functions of different reactions of molecules and then break those molecular reactions down to a subatomic level. It is a pretty disorganized train of thought right now, but by December, I should have a rough draft of what I'm trying to say. I need a title also, any suggestions?

Energy and its role in the Universe

*Energy cannot be destroyed nor created, and has existed since the beginning of time*

In the universe's first subatomic particles birth, protons and neutrons that existed in the nucleus of an atom of an unknown element (what is believed to be hydrogen) collided with the surrounding electrons sparking the creation of the universe. Everything that we know has mass, and since mass is the measure of matter in something no matter can be created with out energy. Through the collision of different subatomic particles reactions were produced in the forms of energy, for example light. Everything that we see today is a result of reactions caused by reactions all because energy is recycled. Heat plays a big role in showing that the same energy is used to keep a room warm, and cool. The energy is just distributed in different forms and places. Everything since the "beginning" of the universe has been the same, and just developed differently.

This is a project that I will continue to expand and correct.

The Importance of Imagination & Preservation

Often times I meet children from my generation (90's) who have very low self esteem. Peers who have aspirations to do great things, and want to contribute massively to society. The biggest thing going on now is the journey to college. What classes you should take, grades you need to get, etc. It is so funny how the merit of academia has become more important than the knowledge one actually gains. I am not implying that grades aren't important, but children have been so consumed by achievements that education is truly undervalued. I'd rather walk out of a classroom knowing I can use my new knowledge to adjust my life in a positive way rather than receiving a %100 on a test I studied 4 hours to take. I know that before my physical body passes on, I would like to help humanity colonize other celestial bodies in our solar system/galaxy. Whether I create models of human distribution or discover efficient ways to terraform Mars. Many adults look at this as a "big dream." "It's going to be hard, etc." I like that most comments I receive are negative with the attempt of being positive. For instance, I know that I would like to go to Cornell University. Not only because of the schools motto, but also because Carl Sagan taught there. I want to leave a legacy of great scientific discovery and foundation continuing the footsteps of true excellence in a human being's cognitive function. I understand that requires great work ethic, excellent academic performance in high-school, but the most important things are that I really want to do what I love, and that I am in a positive state while doing it. Nevertheless work efficiently, be creative, and stay positive.

Isaac Asimov: New Inspiration

Last week I was watching an old episode of Space Rip on Youtube. I think it was something about energy production on earth or the energy produced in Volcanic eruptions. The narrator used Isaac Asimov's "Foundation" series as an example and the fictional empire Galaxia. I was really sparked so I quickly searched Asimov's name up and found out all about him.  Not only did he have a great view on humanity , he had a great view on science in society. I have yet had the pleasure to start reading his books, but they seem to be wonderful works of art. Like Asimov I would like to make science just as fun, exciting, and realistic as possible for all the people of the world.

No Summer Slump

This summer has been just fine so far. I have to admit I was a bit worried the last day of school. I kept hoping I wouldn't waste summer as I have done in the past. After six years I finally received a Xbox 360. I was so happy when I opened it & now it is more of a nice thing to have rather then something I deserve. Freshmen & Sophomore year were okay for me. I think that I was a bit more rebellious both years, and I constantly talked about how I just wanted to get into college. My parents moving my education to Science Leadership Academy of Phila. was the best thing that ever happened to me. Not only did this move put me in an environment where I have multiple resources, but it also prepared me for what I want to pursue. I have to thank my Algebra 2 teacher Mr. Reddy. He is a great teacher in mathematics. He makes concepts so clear to grasp and understand. I started to learn the Greek alphabet today & its relationships with Science and Mathematics. I memorized a couple of trigonometric functions, and I think I'm going to start to learn Arabic soon.

NASA INSPIRE OLC

NASA INSPIRE Online Learning Community. I found out about this program a couple of months ago through my father, and his connections at the school district. I applied, sent my transcripts & certification off , and now I am just ready to get accepted. It would be awesome to have a chance to participate because I can get to truly start to prepare myself for my paths ahead. As any young aspiring physicist wishes, working with NASA would be the best way to contribute to scientific discovery of the Universe. I also understand there is always a need for computer programmers.....?

Guess who did it...?

Final average for Algebra 2......... 83.
Thanks to the Philadelphia School District it comes out as an 85 on my transcript. I really worked hard to try to maintain my grades. It was a long battle, but I won the war. Next year for Pre-Cal. I will have to be on task all the time, study smart, and continue to achieve longevity in high-school.

Discouragment.

We had projects to present in engineering this week. With the help of the student assistant, I was able to plug in some pretty important information on how much Joules per Day one orbital system could receive from the sun. When I showed the assistant my Presentation, he put it to me nicely that my purpose and goal didn't make since, but the work was good. He also added that maybe because he had more educational experience he was able to understand more things then I was. He is right. I'm an aspiring scientist, trying to start fresh rather than late. I was a little bothered after this, but quickly turned this around into a positive. I need to continue to keep my standards high. If not, I will loose aspiration for science. Life is golden.

The Score(s)

I know it has been awhile since I have blogged, but I've been busy. With the help of requizzing. I was able to receive a
3/5-Law of Exponents
5/5-Long Division of Polynomials
5/5 Synthetic Division
Now I have 13/15 on the quiz giving me an 86.7. I wish that was my final average for Algebra. With high hopes setting out for Cornell or Princeton for my BA in physics, my transcript says " Winston can certainly come up with theories, and research (A's in both Bio-Chemistry and Adv. Engineering for my sophomore year) but can't find an equation worth didly. I recently took a quiz on Conic Sections of Circles and Ellipses. I tanked. Choked. Missed the game winning freethrow. This is the LAST week to requiz before Summer break. May Einstein be with me.

Graphing Polynomials (The Test)

Ah yes, another minor road block to the great field of science. Yes for all those who are just finding out (everyone) I would like to be an Aerospace Engineer, Astro-Physicist, and hope to be an expert in Astro- Biology. I'm working very hard to become these things, and math is my Stalin right about now. I love it, but it certainly does not love me. Hopefully I shall get everything on the quiz right with these wretched polynomials. Math for scientist is like a second graders knowing how to tie their shoe.

Greetings to All...

First off, I want to say that this is completely wrong of me listening to hindi sitar solos and blogging on a tuesday night when I clearly have to get started on my "Graphing Polynomials" Alg.2 Homework. This is just brief introduction to what hopefully will be an exciting compressed novel of my Tales as a Young Lad.
